Written for Brightwork, a pierrot ensemble, Polarité uses piano prepared with neodymium magnets that alter its timbre, creating resonant bell-like sounds in some places and buzz tones in others. Throughout the piece, delicate filigree coexists with buzzing, textural motifs. The structure is fluid, allowing for organic development that mirrors natural electromagnetic impulses.
